Learning to blacksmith with my 11 year-old at the Broken Hammer Forge was a fantastic experience. (We built a forge in our back yard, but that will be another post...) Dave is a great teacher. He agreed to let my son in the class if I worked along side him. Forging is hard, hot, and dirty work, and by the end of an 8 hour class-day, I was handling the bulk of the load.
We came home with a small box of things we made in the class: a hook, some nails, and most important our own pair of tongs.
